Enjoy a Free Tour in the Heart of the City| Things to Do in Auckland | This January and February

Free tour in Auckland | Love history? | Book our Taste of NZ experience to claim your tour spot

A free tour is something everyone enjoys. As we are now into 2019, there is no better way to celebrate the new year than enjoying our new Taste of New Zealand menu accompanied by a free tour of one of the most historic buildings in the heart of the city centre. This is a combo that we guarantee no one else in Auckland is doing. For those of you new to the country and are visiting Auckland, the entire team at The Bluestone Room warmly welcome you to our historic venue. Located a few minutes walk from the Auckland Sky Tower, the building itself is one of the city’s oldest examples of a small 19th-century warehouse. Over January and February, we are running a free tour experience that you can’t miss out on during your time here.

One of the most common questions asked by those travelling to New Zealand is what is New Zealand food? Is there such a thing as a New Zealand cuisine? The answer is complex. For the most part, there isn’t really a well-defined New Zealand cuisine. Ours is a melting pot and reflection of the multicultural New Zealand population – historically, dishes with an English heritage, and more recently, dishes with an Asian-Pacific influence. What does define New Zealand food however is our incredible produce. So much of it, wanted and cherished by countries all over the world and deriving a significant chunk of our exports economy. A Taste of New Zealand is our way of introducing you to some Kiwi pub classics, accentuated by our local produce. Step inside The Bluestone Room amongst the hidden laneways of central Auckland and find yourself in a lovely and historic dining room, with a host of local drinks and mouth-watering dishes to experience.

The Bluestone Room’s Events and Functions Manager, Chelsea Kingsford, has designed the Taste of New Zealand experience in conjunction with a complimentary free tour of The Bluestone Room offer for those that book in for the Taste of New Zealand lunch or dinner offering; “when you walk into The Bluestone Room, we want you to feel transported. As you sit yourself down into the wooden chairs with our unique historical New Zealand décor all around, and then open that menu, we want our customers to feel as if they’ve completed a long journey and can now relax and rest. We’re so excited to offer a special Taste of New Zealand food experience to our overseas guests,” says Chelsea. With its stone floor entrance, its native Kauri timber ceiling beams and wood wall panels sitting above the bare volcanic stone walls, and its diverse history, a complimentary free tour of The Bluestone Room is a fascinating step back in time.

If you are looking to get a real authentic flavour, the menu is full of New Zealand food favourites. A Taste of New Zealand’s menu is quite extensive, serving everything from mussels, lamb shanks, and a New Zealand-styled roast chicken, as well as the quintessential Kiwi deep dish pie, to name a few. With beef sourced from the Canterbury and Wairarapa regions of New Zealand, the Kiwi beef burger and the beef brisket are a perfect match for our meat lovers.

A Taste of New Zealand will also offer a huge variety of local New Zealand beverages – from traditional beers to craft beers, a great selection of Taste of New Zealand wines covering everything from local Chardonnays and Pinot Gris wines to some sensational Pinot Noirs and Merlots.

For $39, choose any dish from our Taste of New Zealand menu and also receive a NZ beer or glass of wine.
